Spring Break just started here in my corner of the Sunshine State and I have nothing to do.
That should be great, right?
Wrong.
It's killing me slowly from the inside! The boredom is overwhelming.
So I decided - why not take up my crochet again?
A few months ago I learned how to crochet so I could make my friend a birthday present. (They came out very cute and she loved them <3) And then I kind of let it drop. But now I'm going to take it back up again to help pass the time. It's actually really fun, and the satisfaction of finishing a project (and the adorableness of it!) is great. :)
Now, I crochet specifically in the style of Amigurumi. (ah-mee-goo-roo-mee) It's a Japanese craft that's become really popular in the past several years. Amigurumi are plushies crocheted from yarn. They can be made for kids, but the interest from them really bloomed from women and teenage girls. (like moi) Amigurumi uses crocheting in the round - the stitches are worked in a circle and not joined. What you get are different pieces that are then stuffed and joined together to form dolls! (that are super cute ^_^)
To help me track my progress as I complete projects and to help you chickies out there who are like me and are very new to this stuff I created this blog. I'll post whenever I finish a new project showing the finished product and the pattern I got it from. Remember I'm still a beginner! >_< So this blog is for other beginners like me. I'll be sourcing a lot of helpful websites and blogs that help me with my technique and that have a lot of great patterns.
That being said, you should immediately go and check out Ravelry It's a community for crocheters and knitters alike with tons of patterns on it (a lot are free, some require payment) and it also helps you manage your projects.
So have fun and check in regularly! Because I'm ready to pump out a bunch of projects over the break. Hope this'll be of some service/entertainment!
